ELECTIVES SHARING

To celebrate our last day of Electives, we had a sharing time in the hall.  There were lots of great Electives this term: Construction, 3D Art, Woolly Workers, Tie Dying, S.T.E.M, Animaltastic Art and Kapa Haka.

ATHLETICS DAY

Despite the chilly weather, the Room 11 children had a wonderful day at the school athletic sports. They participated in high jump, relays, discus, shot-put, 800 metres, sprints, long jump, hurdles and an obstacle course.

Congratulations to our class relay team.  They have been training extra hard at school and WON the race today!  Hooray!  Mrs McCulley was cheering so much, she now has a croaky voice!




Today we were definitely ACTIVE, POSITIVE AND PROUD!

LEXI'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Today Lexi shared her Learning Commitment with us.  Lexi has been very busy baking Anzac biscuits, blueberry muffins and chocolate cupcakes.  She told us about her baking and her tasty recipes.  Thank you Lexi!  Your baking was delicious!



FAREWELL TO MISS NORTON

On Friday we said farewell to our College Teacher Miss Norton.  We have loved having Miss Norton teaching us this year and we wish her well with her teaching career.

THE CHOIR VISITS WOODHAUGH REST HOME

Twelve children from Room 11 are part of Mrs King's Middle Team Choir.  They have been practising very hard over the last few weeks and today they performed for the residents of the Woodhaugh Rest Home.

ATHLETICS IN THE SUNSHINE!

We made the most of the sunny afternoon by training for Athletics Day next week.  Today we tried high jump, shot put, sprints and discus.



VIDEO CONFERENCING WITH JAPAN

Today a group of Room 11 students were part of a video conference with children from our sister school in Japan.  They were telling us all about their holidays and we were asking them questions.

TEANE PERFORMS ON STAGE WITH THE PASIFIKA GROUP

Today we went to watch the Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups perform on stage in the hall.  We were very proud of Teane.  She was a wonderful dancer in the Pasifika group!

MILLY'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Today Milly shared her Learning Commitment with the class.  She has been extra busy making a wooden box with her dad.  Milly's box had a secret compartment to store all her special things.  Great job, Milly.

UNION MEETING FOR TEACHERS 6/9/16

Tomorrow many of the George Street Normal teachers will be attending a union meeting.  A notice was sent home today regarding the arrangements for the afternoon.  Please note:

Parents who wish to collect their children from school can do so at 12.30pm, however they must inform the class teacher.

All children who remain at school can be collected from the school hall at 3.00pm.

OTAGO CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Today Alexis and Issy represented our school in the Otago Cross Country Championships.  Well done - we are very proud of you!

Today Mrs Yeoman taught us how to ask "What is the time?" and give the correct answer in Maori. Feel free to practise this at home.
