JELLYBEAN MATHS

Because it was Mrs McCulley's birthday, we had an extra special maths lesson.  We used our statistical skills to sort, tally mark and graph jellybeans.  It was lots of fun!

VISITING COLLEGE TEACHERS

On Thursday we had two first year College Teachers helping us in our classroom.  Their names were Mr Bower and Miss Bolger.  Some lucky children got to read with them.

SCIENCE - Colourful Milk Experiment

Yesterday we completed a fun science experiment.  We used milk, food colouring and dishwashing liquid.  In some groups, the experiment worked really well and they saw amazing colourful swirls.  In some of the other groups, they mixed their ingredients (even though this was not in the instructions) and it did not work!  We learnt an important lesson about science experiments - follow the instructions!  If you would like to try this at home, here is a movie to help you:

CHARACTER VALUE OF THE TERM - Respect

This term our character value is 'Respect'.  We have started learning about what respect is and how we can be respectful both at school and at home.  There is a really cool display in our classroom if you would like to come and see it!

INTERNET SAFETY

Today Constable Somerfield came to talk to us again.  He taught us about 'Internet Safety'.  Constable Somerfield showed us a fun 'Bryan & Bobby' DVD.  We learnt only to use the internet when an adult was in the room, to tell an adult if we saw anything we didn't like, and never to share any person details or photos online with people we did not know.

SCIENCE FUN!

This year we will be having weekly science sessions.  On Monday, the children enjoyed a 'Hopping Corn' experiment using vinegar and baking soda.  We made observations just like real scientists!

BUDDY READING

Every Thursday afternoon we have 'Buddy Reading'.  Our buddy class is Room 5.  We visit them on the junior side every second week and on alternate weeks they visit us and we read in the learning centre.  It is lots of fun to help our little buddies!

SUPER HERO OF THE WEEK

Every Friday in Room 11, a child is chosen to be our 'Super Hero of the Week'.  This is a person who has shown amazing behaviour and has worked very hard to be a role model in our classroom.  The 'Super Hero of the Week' gets to choose out of a special prize box and have their photo displayed in the classroom.  They are also given a special sheet so we can find out lots of interesting information about them.  Congratulations to Sophie and Sam who have been the lucky winners over the last two weeks.

OUR COLLEGE TEACHER

Many of you have already met our College Teacher, but if you haven't here she is! Our College Teacher, Miss Bronte Norton will be working in Room 11 throughout the year.

CLASSROOM RULES

We watched a fun Minion video about classroom rules.  We talked about lots of important rules we need to follow to make sure everyone is safe and happy in Room 11.  We are creating our own Minions and we will be making a display in our classroom.  Keep watching our blog - our artwork will be shared on the blog when we have finished.
