CLASS RELAY TROPHY
Today at assembly, Mrs Rodriguez presented Room 11 with a trophy for winning the class relay race at our school athletics day. Well done to all our speedy runners - you were an awesome team!

VIDEO CONFERENCING WITH JAPAN
Today Mrs Stanton took our class into Te Puna Ako for a video conference. We got to talk to our friends from Gifu Shotoku School in Japan.

NO HOT LUNCHES TOMORROW
Tomorrow, we will be at the Town Hall from 10.00am to 2.30pm having our dress rehearsal for the end of year production. This will mean that the children will need to have a packed lunch and a drink bottle to take with them. There will be no hot lunches available tomorrow. Thank you for your support.

END OF SHOW MESSAGES
Here are some important messages for our end of year show:
* The show is on at the Town Hall on Thursday 8th December
* Children need to be at the Town Hall (in Moray Place) at 6.40pm
* The show starts at 7pm
* Please bring your child through the main entrance and straight ahead to the ground level seats
* Most parents will be seated in the gallery but there will be some seats on the ground level if you have a pram or wheelchair
* Costumes will be sent home on Thursday for the children to wear to the show.
* We anticipate the show will be finished by 8.30pm
* Every child in the team is involved in the show and we are very excited to showcase our talents.
* See you there!

LIBRARY BOOKS
Today was our last visit to the library this year. All library books are due back at school on Thursday 8th of December for the end of year stocktake. Check your bookcase and under the bed to make sure your books have been returned!

THE LORAX
Mrs McCulley read us the story of 'The Lorax' and we talked about how important it was to look after our environment. We then created amazing pieces of artwork!

DUNEDIN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Today members of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra visited our school. They took us on a musical journey through the centuries and taught us about lots of different instruments. We especially enjoyed when they played the theme song for 'The Simpsons'.

SCHOOL PRODUCTION - SPORTS GROUP

BAKE SALE FOR THE CHIMPANZEES
Tarrah has been showing compassion this week and is concerned about chimpanzees and how their natural habitat is being destroyed. Tarrah, along with Lexi and Milly are going to hold a 'Bake Sale' for the children of Room 11 on Monday at morning tea time. All of their baking will be 10c to $2. All of the money they make will be donated to help the chimpanzees.
AMANDA'S LEARNING COMMITMENT
Amanda has an amazing strength in music. She talked to us about learning to play the violin and played several songs with her sister. Well done, Amanda! Thank you for playing for us!

THOMAS'S LEARNING COMMITMENT
Well done to Thomas who has completed his learning commitment goal. Thomas made an amazing robot snake and shared this with the class. What a great effort!
A SPECIAL VISITOR TO ROOM 11 - Holly Robinson the Paralympian
On Thursday we were extremely lucky to meet Paralympian, Holly Robinson. Holly has recently competed in Rio, winning a silver medal in javelin. Holly was really inspiring to listen to. What an exciting visitor to have to our classroom.

FAMOUS ARTIST #3 = Piet Mondrian
Our third famous artist, was Piet Mondrian. Inspired by Piet, we made abstract art with blocks of primary colours and black strips.
FAMOUS ARTIST #2 = Henri Matisse
Our second artist that we studied was Henri Matisse. We made abstract art using paper shapes. To learn more about this artist, watch the movie above.
FAMOUS ARTIST #1 = Wassily Kandinsky
This term, we are learning about lots of famous artists and trying to replicate their artwork. Our first artist is Wassily Kandinsky. We created our own artwork in circle patterns, just like he did!

Poppy (Mrs McCulley's Miniature Schnauzer) visited school again today. She had a fantastic time and especially enjoyed going to the library and listening to the children read!

THE PRINCIPAL'S WRITING COMPETITION
This week Mr Galloway came to give us feedback about the 'Fractured Fairytales' that we wrote for 'The Principal's Writing Competition'. Mr Galloway gave out gold, silver and bronze stickers and talked to us about what he liked about our writing. On Friday at assembly, Mr Galloway is going to present two prizes for the stories that he enjoyed the most - one prize to a Room 11 boy and one to a Room 11 girl.

EXPERIMENTING WITH STATIC ELECTRICITY
For Science on Thursday we had fun experimenting with static electricity. We found that we were able to make light objects move by charging up a balloon on our head!
CRICKET COACHING
This term we are having cricket coaching sessions with Otago Cricket. On Monday Shaun taught us fun cricket skills.

ELECTIVES SHARING
To celebrate our last day of Electives, we had a sharing time in the hall. There were lots of great Electives this term: Construction, 3D Art, Woolly Workers, Tie Dying, S.T.E.M, Animaltastic Art and Kapa Haka.

ATHLETICS DAY
Despite the chilly weather, the Room 11 children had a wonderful day at the school athletic sports. They participated in high jump, relays, discus, shot-put, 800 metres, sprints, long jump, hurdles and an obstacle course.

Congratulations to our class relay team. They have been training extra hard at school and WON the race today! Hooray! Mrs McCulley was cheering so much, she now has a croaky voice!
